Description The job itself A 24-year-old young man, living in Preston with severe autism and at times challenging behaviours, is seeking 1 or 2 Personal Assistants to support for 12 hours per week. Hours to be Tuesday 6pm to 10pm, Saturday and Sunday 12pm to 4pm. As this role includes every weekend, it could be split between 2 workers on a rota basis. The role will be to support the young man in the home. There is a family dog (long haired Jack Russell). The role involves personal care such as support bathing and toileting. Light domestic tasks will be required to be completed. The role will include preparing food and drinks. Candidates are to be vigilant and provide constant supervision, guidance, encouragement, and support to the young man in everyday tasks, to ensure personal hygiene and appropriate dressing for activities and weather is maintained. He has no sense of danger, Extra Vigilance is required to ensure his safety in the everyday daily tasks and activities. Applicants need to be flexible, honest, hardworking and caring. We are seeking care workers who are sensitive to and able to positively manage and respond to the needs of the young man. The candidate must be able to use their own initiative, whilst also ensuring that an environment for maximising independence is maintained. The candidate must be able to be sensitive to the needs of the individual, promoting privacy and dignity.
