Job Description

We’re hiring a full time Pastry Chef. The pastry chef is in charge of making all of the delicious inclusions that go into our ice cream (cakes, brownies, sauces, ice cream, chocolates, etc.) as well as the small line of baked goods and vegan baked goods for our shop. You will be responsible for executing daily and weekly recipe production in our destination kitchen. You will utilize baking skills and previous pastry experience to prepare recipe components, assemble product and perform all necessary procedures related to production in the kitchen. 

Position Brief 

  • Responsible for daily production of all baked and mixed goods, sauces, jams and etc. 
  • Maintain sound food handling and cleaning practices.
  • Heavy lifting as well as long periods of standing will be required.
  • Follow company protocols and safety rules.
  • Effectively communicate with other team members and management.
  • Communicate proactively with Managers throughout all shifts. Ability to ask for help and work as part of a larger team.
  • Follow and comply with all established procedures, recipes and guides, including but not limited to assembly, equipment SOPs, weights and measures, health and sanitation, and general safe work practices.
  • Meet production volume and production schedule while maintaining stringent adherence to quality standards for all products.
  • Maintain a sanitary and organized work environment.
  • Track product and assembly information in daily batch log.
  • Monitor proper storage, FIFO, and shelf life guidelines for all products.
  • Compliance and adherence to all appropriate health and safety regulations and cleanliness requirements, including food safety and department organization.
  • Knowledge and skill with a variety of kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Able to monitor baking processes and identify issues and/or adjustments to adhere with quality standards.
  • Work with a sense of urgency and purpose to achieve daily, weekly and long-term goals.
  • Other duties as assigned in accordance with the needs of the business.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Education or experience in a pastry kitchen a plus!
  • Flexible hours, for weekday and weekend availability.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to work well autonomously.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-2 years experience in baking and/or related pastry production
  • Understanding of proper pastry methods, techniques, and standards
  • Food protection certificate required.  Culinary degree preferred
  • Be passionate about the food industry with a strong interest in high quality products
  • Efficient time management skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50/75 lbs. occasionally
