Job Description

The restaurant hostess is responsible for greeting guests upon arrival, managing reservations, seating guests, and ensuring an excellent dining experience from the moment guests enter until they leave. This role requires a friendly, organized, and professional demeanor, as well as strong communication and customer service skills. The hostess also works closely with other front-of-house and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
 

Key Responsibilities:

 

    •    Guest Greeting and Seating:

    •    Welcome guests warmly and provide a friendly, professional first impression.

    •    Manage the reservation book and walk-in seating, ensuring even distribution of tables to servers.

    •    Escort guests to their table and provide menus; inform them of any specials.

    •    Reservations and Waitlist Management:

    •    Take phone and online reservations, as well as walk-in guest information, to ensure proper guest tracking.

    •    Keep guests informed about estimated wait times and update them as needed.

    •    Customer Service:

    •    Address guest inquiries and requests, or direct them to the appropriate person.

    •    Handle guest complaints or feedback professionally, escalating to the manager when necessary.

    •    Collaboration and Communication:

    •    Communicate seating needs, guest requests, and special accommodations to the waitstaff and kitchen team.

    •    Assist with clearing tables or refilling beverages during busy periods, if needed.

    •    Administrative Duties:

    •    Maintain cleanliness and order in the entry and waiting area.

    •    Update table settings, menus, and any promotional materials.

    •    Manage daily opening and closing hostess duties, including organizing and replenishing supplies.
