Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Oversee and manage the pastry and bakery section, ensuring that all desserts, bread, and pastries are prepared and presented to the highest standard.
- Train, mentor, and guide junior kitchen staff, particularly in pastry and bakery techniques.
- Ensure proper stock control and inventory management for the pastry and bakery section, minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to create and implement seasonal menu items that include innovative pastries and desserts.
- Ensure all kitchen operations adhere to UAE’s food safety, hygiene, and health regulations, including regular monitoring and auditing of food safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with the UAE's laws regarding food handling, preparation, and storage.
- Assist with creating and maintaining food safety documentation and conducting staff training on health and safety practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef with a strong background in Pastry/Bakery management.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a reputable restaurant or hotel.
- In-depth knowledge of UAE food safety regulations and health protocols.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and manage kitchen teams.
- Excellent attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for delivering high-quality food and pastry creations.
- Knowledge of food costing, inventory management, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus).
- Culinary or Pastry Arts degree or equivalent is preferred.
